The New Year – 2017

The New Year – 2017

– Reflection and Developments

Its here and already! and as I write this we are one week into the New year of 2017, time certainly marches onwards at what seems an increasing pace!

This first Blog of the New year is one of both reflecting on 2016 and also looking forward to this year! 2016 saw the launch of my website with a few products and a relatively small portfolio section plus my first Blog.

I am including a few examples of new work and products launched in 2016 as a way of reflecting on the positive achievements of the year.

The New Year saw new additions to my watercolour floral greeting card range……

It also saw a new range of smaller greeting cards, some designed using drawing, scanning and designing using Adobe Photoshop such as the example below of the Swift card which comes in two colour ways. The colours were put together using the Trend forecasting for Spring Summer 2016 for fashion.

2016 was an exciting year for developing my printmaking skills too! I have always loved creating textures, mark making, drawing, photography etc. I have been developing linocuts, monoprints, collographs, learning dry point etching and photopolymer etch.

Photopolymer etch, grasses, roadside, plants

I have tried to show a variety of products and imagery in the hope that it shows that my artwork/design work is varied and cannot necessarily be pigeoned holed into one type. I love experimenting and developing new skills, trying out different design packages, learning new painting, printmaking techniques.

I was delighted to have been chosen to exhibit art work at some open exhibitions in 2016. Rum’s Eg Gallery, Mottisfont – National Trust and Badger Press’s Elements exhibition.

However now we are in to the New Year of 2017 and there will be some interesting developments here at the Creativity Box….

I will be adding to my Artfinder and Etsy shops by increasing the variety of products. I will continue to develop my printmaking practice and have already started on a new collection using photopolymer etching. I continue to do something creative every day; drawing is very important as it is a way of spending time observing and developing my own practice. I also paint, iPad drawing, photography, design using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchbook Pro etc.

My travel range of cards and postcards will be increasing, late 2016 saw Westgate Museum Winchester added to my postcard range and these are now selling at various outlets in Winchester and the surrounding area.

A few workshops will be held on printmaking, painting techniques, block printing etc. and these will be advertised on my website together with social media and local press – look forward to meeting new people and welcoming back friends!

I am working on two other new projects and there will be more detail in the coming weeks and months. One is fabric and the development of a new range of furnishing fabrics in conjunction with a friend and design colleague.

The other development is very dear to me, more about this when the products are ready and will be available in February/March both from my website and through different retailers.

Lastly I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year and may 2017 bring you closer to your individual goals!
